“ I cannot emphasize enough how amazing the Yum Khoong shrimp salad is! It has the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and sour enhanced with fresh herbs. I love it so much, we had to get it again during our short stay in Monterey. The pad Thai was also descent in flavor and size. The noodles are thinner than we were used to so it lost the chewiness pretty quickly. My son still loved it tho. Minus one star for the Tom yum noodle soup which was super bland and lacked all the authentic Thai spices I would expect. I ended up picking out the shrimp and tossing it into the shrimp salad sauce. Maybe trying the soup without the noodles would've been a better idea. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. ”

“ My husband and I are locals of Monterey for almost six years now, and Krua Thai is undoubtedly our favorite restaurant in the area. The staff are very friendly, and I've overheard them providing well-thought recommendations to newcomers. The food itself is incredible, often providing a blend of textures as well as levying its ingredients to soak up all the robust flavors and spices - which, by the way, add to the flavor profile rather than overwhelm it (as long as you don't go too overboard). Speaking of spice, if it's your first time I recommend erring on the lower side of the scale and perhaps requesting spices on the side. You can always add more later, and it can get quite hot! I've tried most things on the menu at this point, and the prices are about what you'd expect for a restaurant in this kind of economy. That said, the portions are very, very generous! I doubt you'll go hungry here! While there's usual Thai staples like Pad Thai and a rainbow of curries, be sure to give their house specialties a try. I've yet to be disappointed there! They've somehow made a Beef Salad work, of all things! I hope this convinces you to give Krua Thai a try! It's a shame this place doesn't get more recognition for how good it is! ”

“ Absolutely love this place. The pineapple curry is phenomenal and the spicy eggplant with tofu is one of my favorites even though I love any meat! The texture of that fried tofu is great! And the service is always excellent! Also a very classy and stylish place though it's small. It's very beautiful and quaint! I just wish they were open Mondays too, because I always seem to crave this place on Monday's but need to remember beforehand! I know that they need a day or two off like everyone else! ”

Other than that, the food is always rich with deep flavors. The yellow and pumpkin curries are delicious. The restaurant is clean and I've never had a long wait to be sat. “ The service was amazing and the food was super rich in flavors. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the iced coffee, there was a funky taste for me. On the day I went there, there was a big group so the waiter/host helped us first so that way we didn't have to wait a long time for our order which was greatly appreciated because we were just passing by. ”

“ We stopped by this Thai place during our Monterey Bay trip. Overall, it was pretty decent. We tried four dishes: Tom Yum Soup, Yum Khoong Salad, Rad Nah Noodles, and Garlic and Pepper Beef. Portions were good, and the prices seemed fair. The food was okay, though the Tom Yum Soup was a bit too salty and didn't have that tangy kick I was hoping for. The other dishes were alright. Service was good, and the staffs were friendly. Just a heads up--they prefer cash, and if you pay by card, they charge a bit extra. 4 dishes and 1 beer - family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids) around $120 (paid cash, tip included). All in all, it's a solid spot if you're in the area and want some Thai food. ”

“ I've been here multiple times! It's still a good Thai spot in the local neighborhood. Staff is friendly & they're always busy. The Tom yum noodle soup is great, I wish they had it year round, that's what we got this time. The rolls were good & overall your typical options of curry, noodles were available. The brown rice was really good quality! Only tricky thing is the limited seating outdoor given the parking lot. ”
